My wife and I took a ‘California Road Trip’ North on Hwy. 1 from Huntington Beach to Napa. We stopped at many interesting places along the way as Highway 1 is filled with spectacular views and places of interest. One of our first was to Ganna Walska’s LOTUSLAND in Montecito. Recognized as one of the 10 best gardens in the world, Lotusland is filled with an extraordinary collection of plants, trees and more from around the world. As we toured, I was struck by the brightly colored villa on the property. The light and shadows falling across the villa pared with an incredibly blue sky and beautiful collection of succulents was amazing. I must paint this! I said to myself.
